Term
What are the 5 levels of organization in organisms complexity?
Definition
  1. Protoplasmic - unicellular, differentiated by organellles
  2. Cellular - functionally differentiated cells, division of labor
  3. Cell-tissue - aggregation of similar cells into patterns and layers
  4. Tissue-organ - aggregation of tissues into organs. Organs made up of more than one kind of tissue.
  5. Organ-system - organs work together.
Term
What are the two main cells of an organ?
Definition
  1. Parenchmya - functional cells
  2. Stroma - supportive tissues
Term
What are the three types of animal symmetry?
Definition
  1. Spherical - balanced proportions on opposite sides of a median plane.
  2. Radial - similar halves, more than two halves passing through a longitudinal axis.
  3. Bilateral - divided along a sagittal plance into two mirrored portions.
Term
Name the four locating regions and three planes?
Definition
  • Anterior, Posterior
  • Dorsal, Ventral
  • Saggital plane
  • Frontal plane
  • Trasverse plane
Term
What is cephalization?
