Definition
Piaget - children try to strike a balance between assimilation and accommodation, maintaining a balance between applying previous knowledge (assimilation) and changing behavior to account for new knowledge (accommodation). Helps explain how children are able to move from one stage of thought into the next.

Definition
Piaget - Getting used to an experience after repeated exposure to it. Example: baby loses interest in hearing a sound after hearing it over and over. Shows 6 month old's can understand difference between pah and bah.
