Term
What are the subtypes of cholinergic receptors stimulated by ACH
Definition
The parasympathetic (cholinergic) preganglionic neuron secretes ACh, which stimulates NN receptors in the ganglia. The parasympathetic (cholinergic) postganglionic neuron also secretes ACh, which stimulates M receptors in various organs.
Term
sympathetic (adrenergic) post ganglionic neurons that don't secrete norepinephrine (NE)
Definition
Adrenergic postganglionic neurons to sweat glands secrete ACH
(what kind of cholinergic receptors?) M. This type of sympathetic innervation to sweat gland is called: Sympathetic-Cholinergic System
Term
Norepinephrine
Definition
Released by most postganglionic neurons
Term
Epinephrine
Definition
Released by the adrenal medulla
Term
Dopamine
Definition
Product of dopa; precursor in the autonomic synthesis of NE. Does NOT affect somatic motor system. Found in the adrenergic nerve terminal.
Term
Acetylcholine
Definition
Parasympathetic: The preganglionic neuron, synapse, postganglionic neuron.
Sympathetic: The preganglionic neuron, and postganglionic neuron to stimulate M receptors on sweat glands.

*ALL preganglionic neurons secrete ACh
