Term Primary Sampling Units Definition (PSU) a group within a population survey which consisted of a city, a county, or a group of contiguous counties. Term Strata Definition Groups of primary sampling units (PSU) that resemble each other on demographic and economic characteristics, and do not cross state lines. Term Ultimate Sampling Units (USUs) Definition contains 4 housing units each Term Cluster Definition A cluster is all or nothing. Everybody in the cluster gets into the sample or nobody does. People living in the same cluster tend to be similar to eachother and their personal information is parallel to eachother. Information about one says something about all the others within the cluster in terms of family background, educational history and employment status. Term half sample method Definition the splitting of two independent pieces of a survey which have the same chance behavior.
