Definition

numerous episodes of a 1Cdaydream 1D state where the patient engages in blank stares, blinking, and impaired consciousness (lack of response). The patient doesn 19t remember the event and often it may go unrecognized for quite some time.

can produce jerking motions or other motor symptoms as well as alterations in sensory, motor, and autonomic systems.

Tonic-clonic or grand-mal
Definition
sudden onset of gross uncontrolled movements, such as extension of back and extremities paired with rhythmic clonic movements, such as tongue biting. The patient may lose autonomic control often evidences by incontinence. Patients typically lose consciousness and may demonstrate confusion and disorientation during the postictal phase. An aspect of this type of seizure are sustained positional movements during a seizure.

Complex partial seizures
Definition
typically involve abnormal activity within the temporal lobe which manifests as changes in visual and auditory function. The patient may also demonstrate lip smacking, chewing, or walking and can have postictal confusion. They do cause loss of consciousness.
