Purpose

Definition

Recieve, store and condition Fuel oil for the following systems:

Gas Turbine U3

House heating Boilers

TSC EDG

Vital Bus EDG

Fire Pump Diesels

CWIS Heating Boiler

SWIS Hot Air Furnace

Term
Design Basis
Definition

1. Combined Volume of both 30,000g (23,000g T.S.) FOST contain sufficient fuel for 2 EDGs in Mode III to run for 4.5 Days.

2. Operation of 2 EDGs beyond 4.5 days requires the 30,000g FOSTs to be refilled by either the 20,000 barrel storage tank or from an off-site source. (fuel barge, Truck)

Term
Which Fuel Oil Loads are typically gravity fed with the ability to be fed with forwarding Pumps?
Definition

All loads except the TSC Diesel.

The TSC Diesel is only gravity Fed.

Term

How many forwarding pumps are in the Fuel Oil System?

State their Operation and Power Supply...

Definition

2 Forwarding Pumps:

1 Normal AC Powered Forwarding Pump:

Auto Starts on U3 Start but can be manually started from U3 control area. 90 gpm. Power supply 460 VAC from U3 460V MCC

1 Standby DC Powered Forwarding Pump:

Auto Starts on U3 Supply Header <5psig but can be manually started from U3 control area. 90 gpm. Power supply from U3 125VDC Panel.

Term

How many Fuel Oil Transfer Pumps feed the EDGs?

What do they feed directly?

Purpose and Rating?

Definition

2 Fuel Oil Transfer Pumps:

Rated for 25 gpm

Supply 3 - 550g Day Tanks

Powered from 2A and 2B 230 VAC Buses

Either pump can supply full flow needs.

Designed to automatically maintain 43" (750g) of Diesel fuel in each of the 3 - 550g EDG Day Tanks.

Term

Discribe the Diesel Fuel Oil Day Tanks for the EDGs....

Purpose?

Operation?

Definition

550g tanks Providing positive head of fuel oil to the EDG

 Minimum 130g

Gravity feeds Fuel Oil Booster Pump

Overflow directed back to FOSTs located on 84' elevation for lead pump

Low Level initiates @ 27" and starts the back up pump and alarms a low level condition.
