Cards Term Prime Numbers Definition Numbers that have only 2 factors; one and itself. 41 is a prime number. Term Composite Number Definition A number with MORE than 2 factors. 12 is a composite number Term Square Number Definition A number that is a product of identical factors. 25 = 5 x 5. 25 is a square number. Term Even Number Definition Any whole number that is divisible by 2. The digit in the one's place will be either a 0,2,4,6,or 8. Term Odd Number Definition Any whole number that is NOT divisible by 2. The digit in the one's place will be either a 1,3,5,7,or 9. Term Divisible Definition Able to be divided with no remainder. Term Factor Definition a number that is multiplied by another number to give a product. A factor times a factor = product Term Multiple Definition the product of a given number by another number. The first 5 multiples of 4 are 4,8,12,16,20. Term Prime Factorization Definition A method for writing a composite number as a product of only prime factors. 18 = 2 x 3 x 3 Term exponent Definition the number of times the base is multiplied by itself. 3 to the third power = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
