Term Schizoid PD Definition -pervasive detachment from social relationships; don't even want them bc don't have the ability to bond -restricted emotional range -may look like mild autistic/Aspergers Term Schizotypal PD Definition -social isolation/anxiety, esp in social situations -odd speech, ideas, apprearance -superstitious -may present with anxiety/dep -antipsych drugs may help Term Antisocial PD Definition -person is anti-society (not anti-people); violates societal norms -well represented in prisons! -present at difficult kids before 15yo -very resistent to treatment - "Persistent Lifetime Misbehavior" Term Histrionic PD Definition -attn seeking behavior; more superficial -endearing, seductive, need to be center of attn. -may give presents to staff to be the "fav patient" -MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE BOUNDARIES!! -more common in women Term Narcissistic PD Definition -grandiosity -fantasies of unlimited success -get mad if not paid attn to or not given credit for achievements -may question staffs credentials and ability to treat him/her properly Term Avoidant PD Definition -social inhibition and feel inadequate -hypersensitive to criticism -may begin as shy, isolated, fear of strangers Term Dependent PD Definition -excessive need to be taken care of (fear they can't take care of themselves) -fear separation -very freq reported in MI clinics -more common in women Term Obsessive-Compulsive PD Definition -preoccupied with orderliness, perfectionism, control of everything! (no flexibility) -their way is the best way -excessive devotion to work -not associated with axis I OCD Term Negativistic PD Definition -formerly "passive-aggressive" -passive resistance to demands -will agree to do something, get mad you said you would, so come up with excuse not (procrastinate, forget, intentional insufficiency, lie, etc) Term Depressive PD Definition -glass is always 1/2 empty! -may be predisposed to dysthymic disorder or MDD -not much known on disorder Term Organic PD Definition -the PD is due to another medical condition on axis I -secondary to other illness (i.e. brain tumor, etc)
