Term

What is a Cell Membrane?

Definition
Cell membranes allow food, oxygen, waste, and carbon dioxide exchange. It is elastic to help change it's shape under pressure.
Term

What are cell walls?

Definition
Cell walls support and protects the cell
Term
What is a Vacuole?
Definition
A vacuole is a storage tank that store food, water, enymes, and waste. For a plant cell it has one large vacuole but for a animal they have a lot.
Term
What is Chloroplast?
Definition
Chlorplast are only in plant cells. They contain chlorophll. Chloroplast is is where glucose is made.
Term
What is Cytoplasm?
Definition

Cytoplasm is a jellylike substance that keeps from drying out, so materials can move around the cell.

Term

What is a Mitochondria?

Definition
A mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
Term
What are Ribosomes?
Definition
Ribosomes are proteins.
Term
What is the Endoplasmic Reticulam?
Definition
The Endoplasmic reticulam (ER) are clear tubes that make and transports protein.
Term
What is the Nuclear Membrane?
Definition
The nuclear membrane holds the nucleusand allows materials to pass in and out of the nucleus.
Term
What is the Nucleus?
Definition
Brain or library of cell. Controls all cell functions.
Term
What are Chromosomes?
Definition
Chromosomes are made up of genes that are instructions for all cells.
Term
What is the Nucleolus
Definition
The nucleolus makes ribosomes.
Term
What is the Golgi complex?
Definition
The golgi complex looks like the the ER but the golgi complex makesprotein and lipids. (fats) This are shipped and the proteins are used fro different functions.
Term
           ANIMAL
            CELLS
Definition
    ANIMAL
     CELLS
Term
What are some of the same organelles plant cells have that animal cells have?
Definition
cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuole ( lot smaller ones), Mitochondria, and lysosomes ( rarey seen in plant cells), Ribosomes, ER, nuclear membrane, nucleus, nucleolus, chromosomes and golgi complex.
Term
What is the cell theory?
Definition
  •  all organisms are composed of 1 or more cells
  •  That the cells is a basic unit of all living things.
