Applying a LAyer Styler enhances the layer by adding a shadow, stroke, satin sheen, or other effect. To do so select a layer, and choose Layer > Layer Style and whatever effect you choose.

To Flatten and Save your files, you first select any tool, except the type tool, the choose File > Save. Choose Image > Duplicate. After you name your file, choose Flatten Image from the Layers panel menu. And then save again.
