Chemical Nomenclature Flashcards

This group of six sets of chemical nomenclature flashcards was prepared by Dr. John C. Ringen to help students at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) learn chemical nomenclature.

I recommend that you review these six sets in the order listed below, so that you will begin with elements (easy) and then progress to more advanced sets.  To study only one set, select that set and then click on "Start Study Session."  To study several sets at once, click on "Study Multiple Sets," check the boxes of the sets you want to review, and then click on "Start Study Session."

Flashcards

Chemical Nomenclature set 1 - Elements - Symbols and molecular formulas of common chemical elements
Chemical Nomenclature set 2 - Ions - Formulas and charges of common ions
Chemical Nomenclature set 3 - Ionic compounds - Formulas of many ionic compounds
Chemical Nomenclature set 4 - Covalent compounds - Formulas of common covalent compounds
Chemical Nomenclature set 5 - Acids - Formulas of common acids
