Term
What must you open your character answer with?
Definition

Three adjectives, or statements that describe what you find out about the character in the extract.

Example: In this extract you fid out that Slim is a natural leader, respected and almost too good to be true.

Term
How many 'zoom ins' do you need to talk about?
Definition

Aim for 3

Example:

There was a gravity in his manner

All talk stopped when he spoke

he moved with a majesty only achieved by royalty

Term
What do each of the zoom ins need to show?
Definition

Each zoom in needs to show one of the qualities that you outlined in the opening:

There was a gravity in his manner - Natural leader

All talk stopped when he spoke - respected

he moved with a majesty only achieved by royalty - too good to be true

Term
How do you start talking about the zoom in?
Definition

You say what quality it shows and explain briefly what it means.

'There was a gravity in his manner' shows that Slim is a natural leader. 'Gravity' means there is a weight or strength. 'Maner' refers to how he comes accross to others

Term
What do you do with the zoom in after you have said what it means?
Definition

You explain how it shows the quality that you say it shows.

Example

Because he has a weight, or a strength about his 'manner', the other farm workers will listen to him and believe what he is saying. This quality makes him a natural leader, as a leader needs to be someone who others take notice of and have confidence in.
