-One well known sign is absence of period. Some could still have periods while pregnant.

-Presumptive signs- subjective signs that can be caused by other things.  You could not have a period because of stress, etc.

-Probable sign-Something more indicative such as pregnancy test, enlargement of the utuerus, not always definitive.

Positive or definitive sign is fetal heart rate detected by a healthcare provider.

What are some changes during pregnancy in  a woman's body?
Definition

Increased blood volume in woman's body w/ 1/6 being in the uterus.  Renal problems could present a problem because of this.  If uterus ruptures, she will bleed out very quickly.

-Can tax a normal healthy body.  Changes of pregnancy can multiply effects of problems that may have been previously unknown.

What are the caloric intake level increases for pregnancy?

Definition
200 to 300 more calories than pre-pregnancy intake per day.  All minerals and vitamins must also be increased especially protein.
