What happens during interphase? what kind of activities take place that are not related to mitosis?

during interphase, the replication of chromosomes become clear.

chromosomes are making exact copies of themselves and that only happens in mieosis and not mitosis.

What are the steps for DNA replication?

1. DNA helicase binds to the DNA at the replication orgin which causes the helix to  unwind by breaking the hidrogen bonds. This opens up a region of the DNA creating a Y shaped area called a replication fork

2. Proteins bind to the DNA to keep the strands seperate

3. RNA primers attach to the template strands

4. DNA polymerase (enzyme) adds nucleotides (one at a time) to create complementary strands of DNA.

5. DNA ligase links the sugar and phosphate backbone of the DNA fragments together.
