  1. 3rd & 4th degree
  2. Has a waxy white dry leathery appearance
  3. Visible thrombosed vessels
  4. All skin elements and nerves destroyed which causes insensitivity to pain
  5. Possible muscle, tendon and bone involvement
  6. Surgical intervention required for healing because coagulation necrosis is present

The epidermis which is the first layer of skin.  Also known as a first degree burn.

Erthema

blanching on pressure

pain & mild swelling

no vesicles or blisters.

Note:  after 24 hrs skin may blister & peel
