Term
Reconstructed Baseline
Definition
high quality data used to graph baseline (examples: attendance and quiz grades)
Term
Retrospective Baseline
Definition
Used when you draw upon a person's memory for big events (examples: fire setting, enuresis, severe tantrums)
Term
Natural Baseline
Definition
occurs when conditions are not held constant, but baseline is collected under the existing conditions with key variables being measured.
Term
Controlled Baseline
Definition
conditions are held constant during the collection of baseline, which eliminates variables that change in natural settings.
Term
Accountability design
Definition
An A-B design is the cornerstone of accountability; with this design you may be able to make internal validity arguments across replications.
Term
True single case experimental design
Definition
An A-B-A-B design is the first true single case design. This design includes a reversal (intervention withdrawal) and a replication phase.
Term
Research question for ABAB
Definition
Does the intervention work/is it effective at changing behavior in the desired direction?
Term
Research question for MBL
Definition
Will the intervention be effective across different subjects, behaviors and/or settings?
Term
Research question for Changing Criterion Design
Definition
Is the intervention effective at increasing/decresing the tareget behavior at varying levels of reinforcement? (each successful criterion shift is a replication)
Term
Rules for changing conditions
Definition
Steady state logic: where you wait for a stable pattern of responding
Fixed and predetermined: certain set number of data points
Response-guided: make decisions as data is collected

Term
Case study design
Definition
An A or B design.
An A design may be appropriate for a case study in that it monitors the course of a disorder, and/or the client may decline intervention. Either way, the A design can be used to stay involved and monitor the behavior. B designs can be used for accountability, natural interventions.
Term
How to do maintenance check
Definition
Following the intervention, in the absence of treatment, follow-up probes can be done in a number of ways to measure maintenance. May be useful in determining what contiuing supports are needed.
Term
How to do generalization check
Definition
Need to use ongoing, concurrent measurement with follow up probes of targeted and non targeted responses and conditions.
