Lidoderm

 

lidocaine topical 

Definition
  • Topical
  • Lidoderm is a local anesthetic (numbing medication). It works by blocking nerve signals in your body.
  • Lidoderm is used to relieve post-shingles pain. Apply Lidoderm only to intact skin with no blisters.
  • Lidocaine topical in other formulations is used to reduce pain or discomfort caused by skin irritations such as sunburn, insect bites, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, and minor cuts, scratches, hemorrhoids, and burns.
  • side effects include:
    • mild irritation, redness, or swelling where the medication is applied;

    • numbness in places where the medicine is accidentally applied.

  • Fentanyl nasal sprays, lollipops, injections, sublingual tablets and sprays are immediate acting and used for breakthrough pain. Breakthrough pain is when you have a flare up of pain, even though you are taking regular pain medicine for chronic or persistent pain
  • side effects include:
  • headache
  • constipation

  • Tramadol is a synthetic opioid and acts in the brain and spine (central nervous system) to reduce the amount of pain you feel
  • MISUSE OF THIS MEDICINE CAN CAUSE ADDICTION, OVERDOSE, OR DEATH
  • Tramadol can be taken with or without food, but take it the same way each time
  • Swallow the capsule or tablet whole to avoid exposure to a potentially fatal overdose. Do not crush, chew, break, open, or dissolve

  • Adults and teenagers who weigh at least 110 pounds (50 kilograms): Do not take more than 1000 milligrams (mg) at one time. Do not take more than 4000 mg in 24 hours
  • Children younger than 12 years old: Do not take more than 5 doses of acetaminophen in 24 hours
  • An overdose of acetaminophen can damage your liver or cause death

  • Wellbutrin tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed, divided, or chewed
  • Wellbutrin may be taken with or without food
  • The recommended starting dose is 200 mg per day, given as 100 mg twice daily. After 3 days of dosing, the dose may be increased to 300 mg per day, given as 100 mg 3 times daily, with at least 6 hours between successive doses. Dosing above 300 mg per day may be accomplished using the 75- or 100-mg tablets

  • St. John's wort has been used in alternative medicine as a likely effective aid in treating mild to moderate depression and related symptoms such as anxiety or insomnia
  • St. John's wort has been used in alternative medicine as a possibly effective aid in treating somatization disorder (physical illness or symptoms without a known cause), or hot flashes caused by menopause. Topical forms of St. John's wort have been possibly effective in healing skin wounds, or treating skin irritation caused by psoriasis.
  • It is not certain whether St. John's wort is effective in treating any medical condition. Medicinal use of this product has not been approved by the FDA.
  • St. John's wort is often sold as an herbal supplement
