Definition
The Middle East was a term that was invented by the Europeans to describe the region that lies between Europe and Asia. Some people call this area Southwest Asia. The United States government refers to this area as the Middle East

Definition
North Africa obviously has an African heritage because it is part of Africa. This area also has strong ties to the Middle East. The religion of Islam and the Arabic language are also part of North African countries.
