-DNA is loosley packed in chromatin

-DNA strand makes an exact copy of itself

-"Resting Stage"-cell performs life functions but doesnt divide

-Chromatin becomes a visable chromosome

-Nuclear membrane dissapears

-Centrioles move to opposite poles of cell

-Spindle fibers begin to stretch accross the cell

Metaphase

-Chromosomes line up in the middle

-Centromere attatches to spindle fibers

-Centriole and spindle fibers dissapear

-New nuclear membrane forms around chromatids,which turn back into chromatin

-Cytoplasm and organelles divide evenly

-Two new cells formed

-In ANIMAL cells-cells pinch in to divide

-In PLANT cells- a cell plate forms accross the cell to create a new cell wall
