EDAP

Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics

1. Shall be transported to the most accessible PTC, if the transport time does not exceed 20 minutes. Pts can be transported an additional 10 minutes, to a max of 30 minutes, if the provider based resources at the time of transport.

2. Childrens Hospital LA shall be the primary receiving pediatric trauma center for pediatric trauma pts transported by air ambulance from the antelope valley and the east san gabriel valley.

3. If a PTC cannot be accessed but a trauma cneter can be accessed under the parameter in #1, the pt may be transported to the trauma center.

4. If a PTC or trauma center cannot be accessed as specified above, the pt may be transported to the most accessible EDAP.

1. The pt, family, or private physician requests transport to a non-EDAP facility.

2. The pt, family, or private physician is made aware that the receiving facility is not an EDAP and may not meet current EDAP standards.

3. The base hospital concurs and contacts the requested facility and ensures that the facility has agreed to accept the pt. This includes those providers functioning under SFTPs.

4. All of the above shall be documented on the EMS Report Form.

1. Cardiac dysrhythmia

2. Severe respiratory distress

3. Cyanosis

4. Persistent altered mental status

5. Status epilepticus

6. ALTE (Apparent Life Threatening Event) <equal to 12 months of age
