Definition
A licensee may request his/her license be placed on inactive status, whether or not he/she is practicing within the State of Texas.
A licensee on inactive status must pay the total annual renewal fee, less the amount of the
inactive annual renewal fee, plus a $25 administrative processing fee to obtain a regular license.
10 CE credits a year must be maintained.

Before 95', the vet techs were not listed legally in the laws.
The veterinarian decides who can perform what duties.
The vet tech - under direct or immediate supervision may:
- induce anesthesia
- suture
- extract loose teeth
Under general supervision:
-draw blood and take samples
All VA's and CVA's must be under immediate supervision
The vet tech and do the VX under direct supervision
The vet tech may speak with the client about nutrician, dentals, and over the counter pharmacy products
A vet tech may perform euthanasia and long as the client is not in the room
State certificates are good for 10 days (Dogs/Cats) and 30 days (Livestock)
Instructions for care of a patient can be completed by a non-vet.

Definition
Brucellosis in Cattle
(Contagious abortion, Bang's disease)
Infection spreads rapidly and causes many abortions in unvaccinated cattle. Natural transmission occurs by ingestion of organisms. Cattle may ingest contaminated feed and water or may lick contaminated genitals of other animals. Diagnosis is based on bacteriology or serology. B abortus can be recovered from the placenta but more conveniently in pure culture from the stomach and lungs of an aborted fetus.
