Term
What are the factors that determine the size and shape of the computer case?
Definition
Form Factor
-the basic form factors for computer cases include desktop & tower
Desktop Cases may be slimline or full-sized.
Tower cases may be mini or full sized.
Term
What are four basic units of electricity? How are they mathematically related?
Definition
Voltage(V)measure of force required to push electrons through a circuit

Current(I) measure of the amount of electrons going thru a circuit

Power(P) voltage multiplied by current

Resistance(R)the opposition to the flow of current in a circuit. Measure in ohms. Lower (R) allows more current to flow thru ta circuit

V=IR
P=VI
Term
What is overclocking? Throttling?
a. How is this accomplished?
Definition
Overclocking is a technique used to make a processor work at a faster speed than the original specification. It's not a reliable way to improve performance & can result in damage to the CPU

Throttling is a technique used when the processor runs at less than the rated speed to conserve power or produce less heat. Its commonly used on laptops and mobile devices

Its accomplished BIOS in (Basic Input/Output System or Binary Integrated Operating System)
Term
How do you get a Triple-Core CPU Processor?
Definition
3 cores in a single CPU that is actually a quad-core processor with one core disabled
Term
What is the purpose of ROM?
Definition
ROM is used booting the computer and for storage of the lowest level bootstrap software (firmware) in a computer.
Term
Where can L1, L2 and L3 cache be found?
Definition
L1(standard) is internal cache and is integrated into the CPU

L2 external cache that was originally on the MOBO not on CPU

L3 used on high end workstations and servers
Term
How is Error Correction Code(ECC) different from non-parity and parity memory?
Definition
ECC actually correct the errors thats detected, while non-parity does not check for errors and parity checks for errors.
Term
