-EIC tells British, who come and colonize, help defeat the Sepoys and set up an indirect rule
-Queen -> Viceroy -> Indian governors
-make the people grow cotton instead of food -> great famine -> many ppl die of starvation
-> helps British economy to exploit the people

-gains independance, but ppl don;t like him because he is a creole
-doesn't help the mestizos
-becomes a dictator, with a string of dictators following him

-Hidalgo and Morelos are mestizos who lead the first revolution
-creoles don't like the mestizos becoming powerful
-Iturbide is a creole who takes control of the entire class and then the country and becomes a dictator
-> get independance but gets a crazy dictator ruler who doesn't help the mestizos
