Term
Wright stain procedures:
Definition
-Fixative methanol ( fixes the cells so they will not wash off)
- Stain, wright ( colors the cells)
- Buffer, phosphate buffer pH 6.4-6.8 ( when the actual staining takes place)
- Rinse, distilled water Di H2O ( removes precipitate)
Term
Supravital stains
Definition
the stain that is applied over live cells and no fixative used. There are two supravital stains which are:
- New Methylene blue
- Brilliant Cresyl blue
Term
Stain that is used in preforming reticulocytes count and Heinz bodies ( anemia test)
Definition
Supravital stain
Term
The stain that aids in the diagnosis and prognosis of new leukemias
Definition
Cytochemical Stain
Term
The angle that the smear slide must be at
Definition
30- 45 degrees
Term
The relationship between the buffer timing and the staining timing
Definition
it is doubled ( buffer is double the time of the staining)
