Definition
Time period- WWI and WWII
Region- Atlantic ocean mostly, some In Mediterranean
Definition- German submarines would attack any vessel over the Atlantic Ocean heading to England or any other country in Europe to prevent US soldiers or weapons from reaching Europe
Important facts
1This was the cause of the sinking of the USS Lusitania in 1915 causing the death of English and US citizens including millionaire monopolist Alfred Vanderbilt and 113 other US citizens.
2 During WWII the US and Germany got into an unofficial war over the Atlantic in 1940, the war was mainly scrimmages between armed trading ships and submarines
3 Although Germany claimed it would stop after the attack on the Lusitania, they went back to it in 1917 before the Zimmer gram telegram was sent to Mexico

Time period- Holocene epoch including present day
Region- Southeast Europe
Definition- Peninsula that used to be both apart of Africa and under water which connected with Europe millions of years ago, oldest civilizations in Europe started here
Important facts
1The religions of the Balkans are mixed with Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria being mostly eastern orthodox with the rest being mostly Islamic/Arabic
2 Both Balkan wars and WWI started in the Balkans proving that the area is made unstable by the different alliances and religions
3 Despite being in Eastern Europe, Greece and Turkey are considered a part of Western Europe because of their location and non-occupation by the USSR after WWII as Turkey was neutral and Greece liberated itself

Definition
Time period: 1839- 1842
Region: China
Definition: British imperialist travel to china to seek trade with the Chinese. Main good was Opium drug. It became high in demand in china; the result of this was high drug use and death from overdose. China refused to trade opium with the British, so the British declared war (China lost).

a) Chinese used opium as a remedy and medicine
b) Most of the war was fought at sea; Chinese had out dated ships and this was a disadvantage for them.
c) Chinas defeat resulted in extraterritorial rights (Chinese law does not apply to foreigners).

Definition-Ivan the Terrible killed the heir to his throne and caused his weaker, sickly son to be the future king. But the son died at a young age which caused the rise of the Romanov's who ruled over Russia for centuries to come.

3. He wanted to westernize Russia to make it a better place because he believe that the west is more advanced so he made the Russians cut their beards off.
4. He was the king of Russia. Peter the great had all the people in Russia to westernize, that includes shaving their beard off. Peter the Great had gained many land after the war with Turkey. He had tricked the people in Turkey into Poltva during the war where the climate was dangerously cold and they won.
