eggs are identical, both have male and female organs in each segment, can tell apart by looking at posterior-most gravid-proglattid segment. saginata has more branches of the uterus than solium (15-20 vs 8-12). also, saginata has no rostrellar hooklets and solium does.

how does liver fibrosis come about in schistosomiasis?
Definition
granulomas migrate toward the lumen of the gut wall or bladder (depending on which species and which route the ova are passed) --> cells of the granuloma are released into the lumen and granulomas disintegrate --> egg with hard shell comes out and half of all the eggs released exit via urine or feces --> other 1/2 get swept to liver and anchored in smaller blood vessels --> wherever they get stuck cause granulomatous rxn --> granulomata undergoes fibrosis
