 Definition
A nonfoliated rock made up of amphibole and plagioclase feldspar. A product of medium to high-grade metamorphism.

Blueschist
 Definition
A product of high grade metamorphism when the pressure upon the rock is high and the temperature is medium. The name comes from the abundance of glaucophane, a blue amphibole, present in these rocks.

Contact Metamorphism
 Definition
A type of localized transformation where the heat from igneous intrusions metamorphoses the immediately surrounding rock. It normally affects only a thin region of country rock along the contact.
