MacConkey Agar

Use: Isolation of Enterobacteriaceae

Positive: Magenta Color - Lactose fermentor - E Coli

Yelow: Enterics which do not ferment lactose

Phenol Red Broth + Dulcitol (PRD)

Use: Differentiaion of Salmonella

Fermentation of Dulcitol -> Yellow Color

Gas Formation + Yellow = Salmonella

Bismuth Sulfite Agar

• Isolalation of Salmonella
• Enzyme: Sulfite Reductase
• Brilliant Green - Slelective against G+
• Salmonela Produces H_²S from sulfite, creates elemental bismuth to make a metalic sheen. 
• Positive Reation: Brown and Sheen

Eosin Methylene Blue Agar

• Coliform Detection
• Dark Colonies/Metalic -> Lactose Fermenters
• Pale/Light Colonies -> Non Lactose Fermenters
• Gram + -> Usualy do not Grow

Simmons Citrate Agar

• Organisms who only consume citrate as a carbon source can grow
• Positive Result is Blue
• Salmonella can consume citrate, E Coli Cannot

Mannitol Yolk Prlymyxin Agar - MYP

• Inhibits growth of G-
• Use: Selection of Bacillus Species
• Enzyme: Lecithinase ->Cloudiness around colony
• Manitol Fermentation - Bacillus -> Yellow Colonies
