: Mitchell Palmer was the head of the FBI and the point was to crack down on communism.  Over four thousand people were arrested and 600 were deported. The FBI abused the power, using it to crack down on anyone they deemed “dangerous” to the gov’t. They targeted specific groups including members of the socialist party, labor unions, and immigrants. There was an overproduction so prices had dropped and farmers weren’t making as much money. They destroyed their own crops, plowing them over, slaughter their livestock, and pour milk onto the streets. It became very unpopular. It hurt sharecroppers.

This was a secret meeting between Prime Minister Winston Churchill and President Roosevelt. According to this charter the men agreed on two things: one- this is a war about saving democracy, two-should we win the war we will make Germany better afterwards rather than punish it. They recognized the mistakes made from the Versailles Peace Treaty.

Definition

   The Chinese leader was Chiang Kei-shek. He was the leader of the Chinese nationalist. He was more concerned with defeating Chinese communists (rep. by Mao Ze Dong) than the Japanese. The Japanese were taking over major cities and the Chinese army fled. The Japanese killed and murdered over 300 million Chinese people at Nanking.

After a year of planning the Japanese navy attacked the U.S. navy. Originally they were looking for aircraft carriers. Four major U.S. battleships were destroyed and 2,500 U.S. servicemen were killed. It awakened the U.S. After a couple days, Roosevelt declared war with Japan. Japan struck an alliance with Germany and so Germany declares war on the U.S.

 Hitler makes one last desperate attack. Took place along the Rhine River. Thousands of Germans attacking the Allied lines pushing the troop lines further and further back but they couldn’t break the lines. As a result, the Germans lost. The Germans were being attacked on both sides.

Definition
African Americans were encouraged to not take the bus. Carpool, walk, or take taxis. It was designed to hurt the Montgomery bus companies. The buses were dependent on black passengers. Over 90 percent participated and lasted for 381 days. In the end the Montgomery buses caved in. It was a huge public relations nightmare.
