one or more typical reaction pattern: head and neck excoriation, symmetrical self induced alopecia, miliary dermatitis or EGC

- also pododermatitis , facial erythema

- vomiting fur balls

- hair in faeces

- hair around teeth and tongue

- trichograms- anagen hairs, broken tips

- clumps of hair in environment

papules and crusting lesions either at:

- dorsal lumbosacral area

- caudiomedial thighs

- ventral abdomen

- flanks and necks

Most commonly assoc. with flea allergic dermatitis

eosinophilic plaques 

Indolent Ulcer 

erythematous, non healing ulcers of the lips, nasal planum, tongue and hard palate. 

Allergic: FAD, atopic derm, adverse food reaction

Mosquito bite hypersensit.

Infectious: pyoderma, malassezia, dermatophytosis

Behavioural: stress, anxiety

Parasitic: cheyletiella, lice, trombicula, otodectes, demodex, sarcoptes

Misc: hypereosinophilic syndrome, mastocytois, familial

-well defined, pruritic, ulcerative and crusting lesions

-dorsal neck and shoulders

- might be from injection site reaction or persistent antigen

- diagnose by clinical signs and biopsy

Treatment: preventing self trauma with collars or bandages, avoiding injections and spot on treatments, surgical excision

Feline cowpox

- dont treat with steroids- may develop systsemic disease with pulmonary lesions and vasculitis.

Treatment: Behaviour therapy +/- modd modifying drugs, feliway ( feline pheromones)

main allergen is a flea salivary protein- more sensitive than whole body extracts

- variable sensitivity and specificity for FAD- levels DO NOT CORRELATE TO clinical severity

- doing a live flea challenge most sensitive and specific.
