Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH)
Definition
Secreted by the posterior pituitary gland and controls water and sodium balance in the body. When secreted it stimulates the kidneys to reabsorb water into the body. It is stimulated by high blood osmolality and low blood volume.

Growth hormone (GH)
Definition
Secreted by the anterior pituitary and influences various metabolic functions within the body (i.e. osteoblast function, inhibition of osteoclasts, glucose breakdown and use, muscle activity, etc.)

Secreted by the beta cells within the Islet of Langerhan in the pancreas. It stimulates the uptake of glucose into cells. Insulin is the main hormonal controller of blood glucose concentrations.

A complex disorder with and extremely varied presentation of symptoms. It effects cognitive, emotional, and behavioral areas of functioning. Diagnosis requires presence of positive and negative symptoms, as well as their persistence.
