VP - Became pres after Lincoln assassination. Southern Dem. Fought with Congress over issues of Reconstruction and new amendments. Pardoned higher ups in Southern politics, something Lincoln didn't want. Supporter of state's rights, not fed govt. Defied Congress every way he could.
