Definition

a method of estimating the % of surface area that has been burned in an ADULT

 

  • HEAD 9% (4.5 for face, 4.5 for back of head)
  • TORSO front 18% (9x2)
  • TORSO back 18% (9x2)
  • EACH ARM 9% (total front and back)
  • LEG FRONT 9%
  • LEG BACK 9%

Definition

The amount of fluid needed for fluid resussiation.

1) give half the calculated amount in first 8 hours of incident

2) give second half over the next 16 hours

 

=(4cc)(weight in kg)(surface area burned)

 

***with this, a urine output of .5cc/kg/hr MUST be maintained
