4. Postganglionic parasympathetic fibers from the submandibular ganglion travel to the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands and to other small glands in the floor of the mouth

1. Carry  taste from anterior 2/3 of tongue via chorda tympani traveling with the lingual branch of V3

2. The geniculate ganglion is the sensory ganglion of the facial nerve (no synapses in this ganglion)

1. A separate part of VII (from a different part of the brainstem than the motor root) that contains all the sensory and parasympathetic fibers associated with VII

2. Both the motor root and nervus intermedius enter the internal acoustic meatus and then fuse with each other to form cranial nerve VII
