  1. End of Month (or more frequently): All customer accounts with balances are added up in the AR Ledger.

 

  1. Post: The sum of all customer accounts with balances in the AR Ledger is posted to the AR controlling account in the GL.

Revenues, expenses & withdrawals are closed at the end of the accounting period. The data from these accounts show how the owner's capital account is affected.

 

 

  • Revenue and Expense balances are transferred to the Income Summary account.
    • Debit Revenue account
    • Credit Expense account
  • Income Summary balance and Withdrawals balance are transferred to Owner's Capital account.
    • Credit the Withdrawals account
