The arguments of the Federalist was that balance and sharing of power between the central (federal) goverment would make a stronger goverment overall.

The arguments of the Anti-Federalists were that a strong president could be declared king. Others were worried that the Senate might turn into a powerful aristocracy. In either case the liberties won at great cost during the Revolution might be lost.

Definition
A plan that proposed a goverment that would have three branches. The first branch was Legislature, which made the laws. The second was the executive, which enforced the laws. The thrid was the judiciary, which interpreted the laws. It proposed a ligislature with two houses. The number of represenitives from each state was based on popularity and wealth. The legislature had the power to levy taxes, regulate commerce, and make laws "in all cases where the seperate states are incompetent". Because they had larger populations the lareg states supported the plan but the smaller states did not. They feared that the larger states would end up ruling the others.
