common: bleeding

 

COUNSELLING

take tablets at the same time each day

always take the same brand

eat a diet that doesn't change to much

avoid drinking more than 1-2 glasses of alcohol

avoid large amounts of cranberry juice

interacts with a lot of meds - check before taking anything

tell dentist/physio/podiatrist that you are taking warfarin

need regular INR tests

tell dr if unexplained bleeding, bruising, or changes in color of urine or faeces

SIDE EFFECTS

common: increased bleeding time, GI irritation, asymptomatic blood loss

 

COUNSELLING

label 13 (remove from packet immediately before use)

mix soluble aspirin with water immediately before drinking

SIDE EFFECTS

common: bleeding, diarrhoea, rash

COUNSELLING

best taken on an empty stomach.  If it upsets your stomach, you can take it with food.

Take with food to avoid stomach upsets

Tell dr if develop fever, chills, sore throat, mouth ulcers, bleeding, or bruising

Accidental overdose is very dangerous - keep out of reach of children

Dilute oral liquid and drink through a straw to prevent discoloration of teeth

Take on empty stomach - avoid tea and coffee
