ED-NOS is most common (60%), lifetime prevalance: 3.5-1% W, 2-.3% M; onset = early teens (AN) & late teens (BN); course: bidirectional diagnostic crossing-over is common between subtypes & behaviors. Good prognosis for treatment in BN, AN is chronic and tx resistant?, AN/BN occur mostly in caucasian, middle class women

Definition
Drugs have no efficacy on AN, anti-depressants for BN. No long-term efficacy but may enhance psychology treatment. Prozac has no benefit, meridia decreases appetite.

AN: hospitalization, psychoeducation, CBT, family involvement. Long-term prognosis is lower than for BN. BN: CBT, interpersonal psychotherapy. BED: CBT to identify triggers, IPT.
