The Nullification Crisis was the beginning of the separation between the North and the South because of the tariffs that were making life difficult for southerners. The south warned that they would completely separate themselves from the north if the tariffs stuck around. Eventually Andrew Jackson sent troops to threaten the southerners and later on they reached a compromise.

John C. Calhoun was the seventh vice president of the united states. He was the former vice president for Andrew Jackson and is known for his defense against slavery and the south. He resigned from his vice presidency when he believed did not agree with Jackson's actions against the south.
