Definition
The only colony of France in north America, it stretched from the Atlantic Ocean, up the St. Lawrence River in Quebec to the Great Lakes, and then down the Mississippi River Valley to New Orleans. People were hunters and trappers.

Definition
Ben Franklin's idea to have the colonies work together with Britain to help to defeat the French and Indians in the French and Indian War. The colonies chose not to listen, leading to taxes after the war for the war debt.

A series of laws designed to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. Among other things, the Quartering Act was made stronger and the Boston Harbor was closed to traffic.
