Sea travel was dangerous because you relied on the stars and the shoreline. The latten sail and the magnetic compass made travel easier.

Definition
Baghdad is located in trade routes between the Tigris and Euuphrates, and had heavy river traffic. Rice, dates, cotton, and grains were grown around Baghdad. Metal works, perfume, leather goods, and paper were made in Baghdad.

Definition
Sub-Saharan traded gold for salt from the Middle East. Each region traded for either salt or gold because one region had alot of salt, the other had alot of gold. They became wealthy by taxing for trading.

Definition
Slaves in Kongo were treated good. The Portugese traded sugar for slaves from Kongo. The Portugese wanted alot of slaves because they wanted someone to work the farms for them. The Portugese turned the Kongo people against each other in order to get more slaves.

Describe the Great Wall. What are some of the myths about the wall and what were its purposes?
Definition
Started being built around the 5th century B.C. The dimensons are 18 ft wide and 25 ft high. Some of the myths are that the wall can be seen from the mooon and that the people who died while building the wall were buried in the wall. Its purposes were to keep invaders out, keep peasants in, and as an early military roadway.

Definition
The trade route is 7000 milrs long. The road gave much more trade to China.

Describe how the sea was Japan's greatest natural resource. How did it benefit the Japanese and what were its drawbacks?
Definition
The sea gave Japan food and protection. The sea also isolated Japan from the rest of the world and made Japan suffer in trade.
