Definition

Origin: Thoracolumbar Fasca, Iliac Crest, Inguinal Ligament

 

Insertion: 10th-12th Ribs, Linea Alba

 

Action: Supports Abdominal Viscra, Flexes and rotates trunk

 

Innervation: Thoraco-abdomial nerves and first lumbar nerves

 

Blood Supply: subcostal arteries

Definition

Origin: 7th-12th costal cartilages, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, inguinal ligament

 

Insertion: linea alba, pubic crest, pecten pubis

 

Action: Compresses and supports abdominal viscera

 

Innervation: Thoraco-abdominal nerves and first lumbar nerves

 

Blood Suppy: subcostal arteries

Definition

Origin: Spinous Processes T7-L5, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, inferior ribs, inferior angle of scapula

 

Insertion:intertubercular groove of humerus

 

Action: adducts, extends, and internally rotates the arm

 

Innervation: thoracodorsal nerve

 

Blood Supply:thoracodorsal branch of subscapular artery

Definition

Origin: external occipital protuberance, superior nuchal line, ligamentum nuchae, spinous processes C7-T12

 

Insertion: distal third of clavicle, acromion, spine of scapula

 

Action: retracts the scapula, rotation of glenoid cavity

 

Innervation: spinal accessory nerve

 

Blood Supply: transverse cervical artery
