Term
Differentiate between the fibrous and serous pericardium.
Definition
Fibrous Pericardium: base is on central tendon of diaphragm, phrenic nerve innervation, outermost pericardium. Involved in Protection. Serous- 2 layers parietal, visceral. Involved in lubrication
Term
Differentiate between the two parts of the serous pericardium
Definition
Parietal pericardium lines inside of fibrous sac. Visceral layer- lines heart surface, external heart layer that secretes fluid (sinous fluid).
Term
What are the conditions of pericarditis and pericardial effusion?
Definition
Pericarditis-inflammatory condition of pericardium, common causes are viral and bacterium. Pericardial Effusion- space between visceral and parietal layers of serous filled with fluid.
Term
Major structures on anterior surface of heart
Definition
R ventricle
Term
Major structures of Inferior surface:
Definition
Mainly L ventricle, some R ventricle
Term
What major structures are on teh left pulmonary side of teh heart
Definition
L ventricle. Cardiac impression on L lung.
Term
What major structures lie on Right pulmonary surface.
Definition
Right atrium
Term
What does thoracic Aorta supply?
Definition
supplies thoracic region of body
Term
What does the abdominal aorta supply?
Definition
supplies abdominal organs.
Term
What does the arch of aorta supply?
Definition
gives off branches and goes to Upper extremity and head.
Term
What is the relatonship between wall thickness and functino for each heart chamber?
Definition
L ventricle needs to be thick to get into aorta. R ventricle needs to be less thick into pulmonary trunk. Atrium walls are not as thick as the ventricles.
Term
What causes the heart valves to open and close?
Definition
Changing pressure of blood entering and leaving the chambers of teh heart.
