Definition
anterior belly: intermediate tendon attached to the greater cornu symphisis on inner surface of mandible GENERAL:  Swallowing- elevates hyoid bone and larynx. Also, depression of mandible in jaw opening.
posterior belly: mastoid notch intermediate tendon GENERAL:  Swallowing- elevates hyoid bone and larynx. Also, depression of mandible in jaw opening.
