Trace the flow of cerebrospinal fluids
Definition
Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) flows through the ventricles, or interconnecting spaces, of the brain.

CSF circulation begins in the Lateral Ventricles, which are deep within each cerebral hemisphere, separated by the Septum Pellucidum.

It then flows through the Interventricular Foramen of Monro, which connects the Lateral Ventricles with the Third Ventricle.

Then, down into the Third ventricle, which is a small space within the Diencephalons.

Into the Cerebral Aqueduct of Sylvius, which is located in the midbrain and connects the Third Ventricle with the Fourth Ventricle.

The last stop in the brain is the Fourth Ventricle, which lies dorsal to the pons and the medulla.

Then CSF circulates down through the central canal of the Spinal Chord and back. CSF then flows through the Subarachnoid Space and finally back into the Circulatory System.
