Definition

Developed by General Alfred Von Schlieffen, it was designed to aviod a two front war (france in the west, Russia in the east)

First they wanted to attack France because the Russian army would be slow to mobilize. In order to do this they would have to go through Neutral Belgium. Since Germany invaded neutral Belgium, Britain declared war on Germany
