Why was Cincinnatus so important? How did he demonstrate civic virtue?
Definition

He was a hardworking farmer who was asked by Rome to take part in being a leader for the military. the fact that he left his life and joined the military demonstrates civic virtue.  He did it for the common good. 

 

After they won the war he was asked to continue and be a dictator.  Instead he returned to his life as a farmer and a citizen.  He returned Rome to a Republic not a dictatorship.  He was 59 years old.
