Mississippi Summer Freedom Project
Definition
campaign in the united states in 1964, that aimed to register as many voters as possible in Mississippi. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools, Freedom Houses, and community centers in small towns throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. Three CORE members(two of them white) where arrested, beaten, and eventually killed. Reported on TV and on newspaper front pages, the triple disappearance shocked the nation and drew massive media attention to Freedom Summer and to "the closed society" of Mississippi.

of 300 suburban, young, white couples from new England in the 1930s through 1950s that assessed outlook on marriage, sex, and happiness in the married family. Issued included small spectrum of people used in the study, and extrapolation thereof. Also only looked at white people. Also participants would sometimes lie in the study out of respect for their husbands.

Definition
1972 Nixon ordered a break in of the Watergate facility, which was the democratic headquarters. Money found on the intruders was linked back to a find that was supposed to be used for the re-election of Nixon. After it was discovered that Nixon had recorded conversations in his office, he was forced to resign in 1974, and ford gives him presidential pardon.

FEMININE MYSTIQUE, 1963, sparked a feminist revolution. Founded and elected first president of the national organization for women. Organized the national women’s strike in new York on the 50th anniversary of the 19th amendment to the constitution, which granted women the right to vote.

Depicted interracial marriage as acceptable only when the black man is unusually wealthy and intelligent. It was a box office hit, even in the south. Written by alice paul in 1923 but wasn’t introduced to congress until 1972 when it passed both houses of congress. Ratified on a state by state level, but not federally because of Phyllis schlafly, who urged conservatives to vote against it.

films made for black audiences such as shaft in 1971, often showed urban areas as dangerous and lawless. Depicted blacks as dangerous, sexually promiscuous, law breaking. Yet still popular among black audiences.

goal was to provide universal health care to all Americans. Clinton wanted all employers to provide health care through a limited number of closely monitored associations. Conservatives opposed and fellow democrats attempted to make their own plans rather than provide support.

US Internment Camps
Definition
1942 Roosevelt ordered executive order 9066- all Japanese seen as threat to national security, and were forced to move into a type of jail. 110,000 Japanese had as little as 24 hours to pack. There was unequal internment; all japanese on the west coast were interned, but only 10 percent of japanese living in Hawaii were interned. In 1945, the order ends, and people can return their homes.
