4. New covenant = Internal & Permanent
5. God tells Jeremiah to buy field, tells him land will be restored.
6. Ends on a miraculous hope, completely centered on God (no kings, priests etc)

Definition
1. Call is a vision of God's throne and is commanded to do something strange.
2. Gifts of dreams, trances, ecstasy
3. Speaks of hand of God transporting him
4. God tells him his role was to be the watchman over Israel
5. Similar to Jeremiah he is not happy about his calling
6. He is to be a "sentinel" but seems more like a "hostage"

Themes: Allegories/riddles = the beginnings of apocalyptic
Marriage imagery = turns into accusation of adultery/idolatry
turns into a threat of rape & murder

Injustice & idolatry equal sins

-Strong sense of personal, individual responsibility
-A new covenant
-Written right at the worst national calamity
-Blames it all on the people's faithlessness
-The prophecy is a harsh call to repentence.
