Uranus’ rotation axis is inclined 98 degrees from a line perpendicular to its orbit

-one of three planets with retrograde motion because north pole points below planet (others are Venus and Pluto)

Outer layer composed of gaseous hydrogen and helium

-Temperature so cold that methane and water condense to form clouds of ice crystals

Interior has three layers:

            --outer 30% of planet is liquid hydrogen and helium

            -- next 40% is highly compressed liquid water

            --inner 30% rocky core

-Water evidence comes from lack of ammonia which easily dissolves in water

-Magnetic field is titled 59 degrees from axis of rotation, and does not pass through center of planet~

-because of this magnetosphere wobbles as planet rotates

Uranus has 10 known rings discovered through occulation (blocking light of a more distant object, by something between it and us) –basically Uranus passed in front of a star and it was momentarily blocked allowing us to see rings existence
